How To Motivate Your Team To Take Action

One of the most frustrating things that happens to nearly all network marketers at some point in their career is having a team under you that just is not doing anything! I know this was a major problem with my organization when I got started. Even being new to the idea of network marketing, I was able to recruit a considerable amount mostly because my character made people want to join me. The problem I was facing was no matter how many people I was able to recruit, my team’s production never grew. I just couldn’t understand why that was the case. I thought that after recruiting someone, they would take it upon themselves to do what it took to become great…I was mistaken. It seemed that after joining, a wave of apathy would come over the new recruit, stopping them from making any progress until they would eventually quit and I would have to go back out and replace them with another recruit likely to do the same.

It felt like I was trying to fill a water barrel that was full of holes. I was putting forth major effort, but no matter how hard I tried, I was stuck in the loop of constantly rebuilding. And I know I’m not alone here. I knew that this is a major problem with network marketers and I sought to find out why.

After much research I realized that it came down to two main factors:

1. I was not a strong enough leader to keep my team focused and motivated

2. The systems that were in place, that I was trying to teach my recruits, were weak and even involved new recruits doing things that made them feel outright uncomfortable such as awkward three-way phone calls and convincing friends and family to “help out” with the next promotion.

Once I put my ego aside and came to these realizations, I knew if I wanted to develop a strong organization, my focus needed to be on eliminating these two obstacles.

The first step was to work on my leadership ability. Being that I was never a leader of any school clubs or sports teams growing up, this was a skill that didn’t come naturally. I knew my best bet was to surround myself with strong leaders and learn from them as much as I could. Which is exactly what I did. We all have heard the cliché you are the culmination of the 5 people closest to you… well I made sure that the 10 people I was spending most of my time with were all strong leaders. In addition to this I also read a lot of books that will improve my leadership ability as well. Some of these books include:

1. The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership by John C. Maxwell

2. The Go-Giver Influencer: A Little Story About a Most Persuasive Idea by Bob Burg & John David Mann

3. Good to Great by Jim Collins

4. The E-Myth by Michael E. Gerber

5. The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy

I highly recommend all of these books as they definitely helped me grow as a person and a leader and as a results of this, my business began improving as well. But as I mentioned, this was just one of the major obstacles that stood in my way of developing a strong downline. My next focus was on developing a system that would encourage new recruits to take action!

I studied the things that made the recruits stop performing, such as asking them to contact their friends and family and recite a script that seemed unnatural for them to say or having home parties which made some recruits cringe at the mere mention of it. I began replacing those tactics with the tactics that the top producers were actually using, that they’d never dream of mentioning while on stage for it would hurt their profits in the process. Not only did I discover these strategies after months of trying to figure it out but I integrated them with the system I was creating which, together, created the ultimate system that my downline is lucky enough to use for themselves. They are no longer put through uncomfortable experiences because my system automates the entire selling and recruiting processes.

As a result of my improved leadership ability and unmatched system, my downline is not only motivated but are producing more and more leaders that are generating massive results! I highly suggest taking a look at those books if you want to improve your own leadership ability or if systems are your issue, I recommend applying for my downline and I will personally be in charge of teaching you these systems. I’ve seen first hand how powerful they are and I’m sure after seeing them for yourself you’ll wish that I would’ve been able to teach them to you sooner!
